The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the largest, the oldest and the most visited Croatian national park. It represents a forest-mountainous area with 16 lakes and waterfalls of various sizes, filled with crystal blue water. One of the most beautiful waterfalls at Plitvice is the “Milka Trnina waterfall” which is named after the Croatian opera singer. The Kornati National Park is located in Central Dalmatia, west of Šibenik, in Šibenik-Knin County. The National Park consists of 89 islands, islets and rocks. Only about 1/4 of the total area of the park is mainland while the remaining part of the park is in a marine ecosystem. Kornati is filled with natural and cultural phenomenons, but the most popular phenomenon of this park is the clearest water in Europe and vertical cliffs (crowns) on the west side of the Kornati islands. The Krka National Park is known for its large number of lakes and waterfalls. It is named after the river Krka which is part of the park and today it has seven waterfalls. Its beauties represent a natural phenomenon which is recommended to visit in spring and summer because it is in full glory and you are able to refresh yourself in pure water. The most visited parts of the national park are Skradinski buk, one of the most famous Croatian natural beauties, and Roški slap. Paklenica National Park is best preserved and largest forest complex in Dalmatia. It includes recognizable canyons vertically engraved in the southern slopes of Velebit, and wide surrounding area. In a relatively small area, there is an abundance of geomorphologic phenomena and forms, diverse plant and animal worlds, attractive landscapes and untouched nature. Vransko Lake Nature Park is situated between Zadar and Šibenik and is the largest natural lake in Croatia. This lake is actually a karstic field filled with water and a rare example of cryptodepression. Up to now, there are about 235 species of birds in the park and the park’s uniqueness is the wealth of fish and developed fishing tourism.
